Roparun/TerraTrac (2002)

In 2002, Niels Langendorff, Hans Huising, Mark Riemersma and Kees Wesselius developed the TerraTrac, a device containing a GPS receiver and a mobile phone connector.
This device was used to follow the
Roparun in 2000 through internet. The same year, the TerraTrac was used to follow tug boat Ringvaart on its way to
Nawaka 2002.
The maps used were not interactive yet.
Batavia Geoserver (2004)

Before Google Maps was introduced, we launched the Batavia Geoserver website. Lots of functions were added to the server to allow the public to have their own copy of GPS2SMS.
An old 300 Mhz Pentium PC was used as a Linux server to host the database and PHP.

When Google release their Google Maps, the functionality was extended when the Maps were added. The flexibility was increased too.
POI66 allowed useres to apply their own settings and several GPS2SMS were tested. By the end of 2006, the site serviced a 2000 visits a day.
